Standalone online casino product in New Jersey

FanDuel Group has launched a standalone online casino in New Jersey while also adding live dealer games to its offering in Michigan, the gambling operator announced on Tuesday.

Up until now, FanDuel’s digital casino offering in New Jersey was only available through its sports betting app. Now, there is a dedicated online casino product for players on mobile and desktop.

The casino games will still be available as part of the sports betting product. Customers can use their existing FanDuel daily fantasy or sports betting accounts to play live casino games.

Live dealer games in Michigan

In Michigan, FanDuel Casino players now have access to live dealer games for blackjack, baccarat, and roulette. The live casino games went live on July 22 after Evolution got the green light from the Michigan Gaming Control Board to start supplying live dealer games to ten operators in the state.

Live dealer games are very popular in Europe as they help to make the online playing experience more realistic. This is achieved through live streams of dealers spinning the roulette wheel or dealing cards from a casino studio.

Live dealer games are starting to gradually roll out across online casinos in the US market. Evolution is the leading supplier in this space, and it is now providing titles from its studio in Detroit to FanDuel. It also powers operators in the Michigan market, including BetRivers Casino and BetMGM Casino.

Evolution is the leading supplier

While FanDuel is mainly known for its daily fantasy sports and sports betting offerings, it now has standalone online casinos live in West Virginia, Michigan, Pennslyvania, and New Jersey. These are the only states that have online casinos up and running at the moment, but other markets are set to go live in the near future.

Online casinos are lucrative for operators

While sports betting tends to get a lot of headlines, online casinos are generally more lucrative for gaming operators. In June, businesses in New Jersey generated revenue of $107.1m from online casino games while sportsbooks earned $71.3m. For the first six months of 2021, online casino revenue reached $634.2m, in comparison to $368.3m for sportsbooks.

New Jersey, in particular, is a popular market for online casinos. PointsBet launched its standalone online casino in the state in recent days, making it the 34th operator in the Garden State to do so.
