An exclusive agreement

FanDuel Group has revealed that it has signed a multi-year partnership with three-time golf major champion Jordan Spieth. The sportsbook operator announced the news of its latest deal via Twitter on Wednesday:

The agreement sees FanDuel in the role of exclusive sports betting and daily fantasy sports provider for Jordan Spieth. The pro golfer will appear in national television commercials and become the face of the operator’s golf products. They will also be working together to develop content for social media and responsible gambling initiatives.

Finally, FanDuel will also support the non-profit Jordan Spieth Family Foundation.

FanDuel currently has online sportsbooks operating in Colorado, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Iowa, New Jersey, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Virginia. It also has its daily fantasy sports offerings live in dozens of states.

Aiming to further engage with golf fans

Speaking about his deal with FanDuel, Jordan Spieth mentioned the rapid growth of legal sports betting in the US and the potential it has to expose new people to the game of golf. He said: “As the PGA Tour and others in the golf world have strongly embraced legalized sports gaming, I look forward to working with FanDuel to find unique ways to engage the fast-growing fanbase.”

FanDuel Group chief marketing officer Mike Raffensperger welcomed the new partnership, highlighting the popularity of golf betting on FanDuel’s platforms and saying the agreement will help to further engage the golf community. He added: “As one of the most universally admired golfers at the top of his game, Jordan Spieth is a perfect fit for our first official golf partner and the face of golf at FanDuel.”

The latest partnership

Jordan Spieth has been one of the most dominant young US golfers. The 28-year-old was the youngest player to capture a PGA Tour event in 82 years when winning the John Deere Classic as a 19-year-old in 2013. He won the US Masters and US Open in 2015 as a 21-year-old, in addition to coming out victorious in the 2017 British Open.

FanDuel also has deals in place with other individuals, companies, and organizations in the world of sports, including Pat McAfee, Phoenix Suns, Denver Broncos, Bleacher Report, and Turner Sports. It also inked agreements with most of the major sports organizations. Last fall, FanDuel signed a deal that made it an official PGA Tour betting operator.

Some other gambling industry operators have been signing deals with individual golfers in recent times. Bryson DeChambeau is currently partnered with DraftKings, while Kevin Na and Pat Perez have agreements in place with MGM Resorts International.
