Will Smith works up a sweat at the gym as he works off his pandemic weight gain


Last month, Will Smith candidly admitted that he was in ‘the worst shape of my life’ after putting on weight during the pandemic.

Yet the Fresh Prince Of  on Thursday when he shared a clip of his dramatic weight-loss routine on Instagram.

The 52-year-old actor was hard at work lifting weights in the short video, which he captioned, ‘The Pursuit of Happyness,’ after his 2006 film of the same name.

The video opened with Will standing on a rotating pedestal and wearing nothing but black boxer briefs.

He wasn’t afraid to stick his gut out to emphasize the ‘before’ part of his physical transformation.

‘That is so nasty,’ he shouted, interrupting the shot. 

The clip then cut to quick shots of him lifting weights, all soundtracked with blast electronic beats.

The Gemini Man star seemed to be honing in on his arms and torso more so than his lower body.

Earlier in May, Will revealed that he’d put on some weight while being stuck at home during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

‘I’m gonna be real wit y’all — I’m in the worst shape of my life,’ he captioned it.

A follow-up photo showed him in the same black box briefs as his most recent video.

‘This is the body that carried me through an entire pandemic and countless days grazing thru the pantry,’ he wrote. 

‘I love this body, but I wanna FEEL better. No more midnight muffins…this is it! Imma get in the BEST SHAPE OF MY LIFE!!!!!’

He added ‘Hope it works!’ after mention he would be recording his fitness journey for YouTube. 

The forthcoming series is tentatively titled Best Shape Of My Life

The YouTube series’ producers said that viewers would see Will ‘rebuilding his body into the best shape of his life and getting his groove back along the way’ in a statement to CNN earlier this month

The six-part series will be produced by the actor’s own Westbrook Media production company and is expected to feature multiple guests, including medical experts and athletes.

So far, a release date hasn’t been announced 

His first YouTube show, titled Will Smith: The Jump, was a hit with millions of views within the first 48 hours of its release.
