Where is Jules Lund now? Former Getaway presenter and 2Day FM host has a very surprising new career

He’s best known to audiences as a Getaway presenter, having appeared in nearly 400 episodes of the Channel Nine travel show.

But Jules Lund has embarked on a very different career path now, with the former TV and radio star shying away from the spotlight in recent years.

Since quitting showbusiness, the 42-year-old has launched his own influencer talent agency, Tribe.

The former Australia’s Perfect Couple host describes his new business venture as a venue ‘where influential creators get paid to recommend brands they love.’

In 2008, Jules became a host of the game show Hole in the Wall, which he discussed on the breakfast radio show Gawndy & Maz on Tuesday.

Describing it as ‘a career lowlight,’ the father-of-two of the show, which featured celebrities trying to contort their bodies through a slow-moving wall before it pushed them into a pool.

‘What’s not to love? asked radio host and fan of the format Maz Compton.

‘Ratings,’ deadpanned Lund.

Lund, who hails from Melbourne, had his career jump-started when he won a ’15 Minutes of Fame’ radio contest in 2001.

He became a Getaway presenter in 2004, and stayed with the lifestyle program until 2012.

He also enjoyed a radio career, hosting a drive time radio show with Fifi Box from 2011, until 2014 when he joined Merrick Watts and Sophie Monk for a 2Day FM breakfast show.

Later that year, the program was axed by the network due to poor ratings.

Earlier this month Sophie Monk reflected on her own short-lived career as a breakfast radio host.

The 41-year-old co-hosted the 2Day FM breakfast program alongside Lund in 2014, but it was axed after less than one year due to poor ratings.

‘Breakfast radio is tough. It really messed with me because we had no ratings either,’ Sophie admitted on Mitch Churi and Mitchell Coombs’ Is It Just Me? podcast.

She went on to say that RPH, a radio network that provides ‘a reading service of popular publications throughout Australia’, received higher ratings than her show.

‘Getting up early to do a s**t radio show burns you out,’ Sophie added.

Sophie joined 2Day FM’s breakfast team in December 2013 alongside Jules Lund, Merrick Watts and Mel B, shortly after Kyle and Jackie O’s defection to KIIS FM.

In October 2014, Southern Cross Austereo dropped the show due to low ratings.

At the time, Sophie reportedly found the early starts challenging and said she was returning to her passion – acting.

‘It looks like it’s back to movies,’ she said on air. ‘This year’s already chockablock; you’ll see my face around.’

Since then, Sophie has hosted several reality TV shows, including Love Island Australia and Beauty and the Geek.
