Trump’s longtime assistant contradicts his claim that all his documents were handled by his executives as part of New York attorney general’s investigation into his business practices

  •  Prosecutors say her own testimony ‘cast doubt on the completeness of’ Trump’s affidavit on the subject

  • Graff, in her testimony, said the statement was ‘very general. It doesn’t mean (executive assistants) handled every document’

Longtime Trump Organization employee Rhona Graff contradicted comments by her longtime employer Donald Trump in a deposition, with prosecutors using her comments to try to knock down Trump’s claims about company record-keeping.

Graff, who spent decades as a trusted aide and who provided a deposition to prosecutors May 31, provided contradictory testimony that ‘cast doubt on the completeness of’ Trump’s own sworn statement, according to prosecutors.

Trump had provided his own statement in an order to try to a judge’s April 25 contempt ruling against him for failing to hand over documents.

His Bedminster, New Jersey-based lawyer, Alina Habba, said in a filing that ‘a diligent search was performed and found that (Trump) is not in possession of any of the requested documents.’

New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office had requested a $10,000-per-day fine while Trump was not in compliance.

Trump himself said in an affidavit that ‘it has been my customary practice to delegate document handling and retention responsibilities to my executive assistants.’

Prosecutors said in a filing that longtime Trump executive assistant Rhona Graff contradicted her former boss in testimony following his affidavit about record-keeping practices. ‘It doesn’t mean (executive assistants) handled every document and maintained everything that came out of his office,’ she said

But Graff, in her own testimony, said the statement was ‘very general. It doesn’t mean (executive assistants) handled every document and maintained everything that came out of his office.’

Graff, who worked for Trump for two decades as an executive assistant while keeping a low public profile, explained that Trump ‘had an inbox and an outbox.’

And if material got sent Trump’s way, she ‘didn’t think it was my position to look inside. She added that ‘maybe on the outside would have said to return to so and so, whoever gave it to him.’

She also described a sprawling record keeping system that nevertheless left a trail of where Trump could find materials that he wanted to locate.

‘The accounting department had things relevant to [Mr. Trump] there, the hotel department may have had records relevant to him there, the golf division may have had records relevant to him, the legal department. I mean, they retained their own records of communications with him. I did not,’ she said, Yahoo News reported.

Trump is seeking to clear a contempt charge, after racking up fines following the initial order.

The former president, who was spotted at Trump Tower on Monday, released a statement Monday attacking James, marshaling familiar arguments and insults, with a measure of unorthodox capitalization thrown in for emphasis.

‘Violent Crime is rampant in New York and yet Corrupt, Racist, failed Gubernatorial Candidate, Attorney General Letitia James, who campaigned for her job on ‘I will get Trump’ even though she knew NOTHING about me, spends many of her waking waking hours, for years now, trying to make her illicit campaign promise come true. People are fleeing New York State, bringing Billions of Dollars in Taxes with them, in order to get away from people like James. New York State has never receded so rapidly!’ Trump wrote.

Trump himself changed his official residency to Florida, which does not have a state income tax.
