‘He always wanted to be that noble person, to try to not like have so much violence, because he’s been through so much growing up, he was trying to do the right thing,’ Martinez told KENS 5.

It is believed the owner was trying to close the bar when the altercation began, according to police.

‘She didn’t deserve this, either of them. They were both very loving, open arms to everybody, she didn’t deserve this,’ Rodriguez added.

After the alternation spilled out into the parking lot, a man went to his car, pulled out a long gun, and began firing rounds in the air, striking two women (one of them being April Rodriguez) and three men (two being Dan Edward Martinez, Jr and Mauro Rodriguez) all in their 20s and 30s on the way back to the bar.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, while one died at Brooke Army Medical Center and two others are in critical condition.

McManus said it is unclear if there was a connection between the suspect and the victims.

Both families are questioning why the Boom Boom Sports Bar was open after hours without security or anyone to intervene.

‘I think that’s illegal [they’re open after hours] and people lost their lives because of that,’ Martinez said.

The suspect still has not been apprehended an investigation is underway, McManus said. In addition, a GoFundMe has been set up for Martinez’s funeral expenses.
