Carmen Strong is an Australian mother-of-two who works full time in retail and loves making her home beautiful and sharing cleaning tips in her spare time.

She recently revealed how she uses toothpaste to keep the straps on her fitness trackers looking brand new despite their close proximity to sweat and oil.

Carmen simply takes an old toothbrush, adds some toothpaste and gives the straps a good scrub.

‘I must admit I don’t do it often enough, but when I do it comes up a treat,’ she said.

The busy mum who lives on the NSW Central Coast has 59k followers online and posts handy hints most days.

And the toothpaste strap hack appeared popular – with many people admitting they are way overdue to clean their own.

‘Mine is the same colour as this and is gross, I am going to try this tomorrow, thankyou,’ one woman said – echoing hundreds of similar comments. 

But some people were left disillusioned.

‘I just tried this and it did not work at all,’ one woman said.

The mum was happy to offer more help.

‘Remember it wont clear discoloration but it will remove dirt,’ she said before recommending Gumption as an alternative.

The before and after photos show a huge difference in the woman’s Apple watch strap after the toothpaste.
