The 2021 Logie Awards are CANCELLED


The 2021 Logies are CANCELLED for the second year in a row due to the pandemic and border restrictions leaving organisers ‘no choice’


The 2021 Logie Awards have been cancelled. 

The event was set to take place in Queensland at The Star Gold Coast on Sunday, November 28. 

However, due to the ongoing pandemic and border restrictions, organisers say they were left with ‘no choice’ but to cancel.

Are Media group publisher Fiona Connolly said in a statement: ‘We are disappointed to have to cancel this year’s TV Week Logie Awards after charging ahead with plans to return for a bigger than ever event on the Gold Coast this November’. 

A new date will he scheduled for 2022 and likely again be held in Queensland, however the details of that event are not currently confirmed. 

‘[We] promise the TV Week Logie Awards will bring an overdue and deserved night of glamour, celebration and recognition of Australia’s outstanding television industry’ the statement reads.

The ceremony was set to be televised on Channel 9 and 9Now. 

According to The Australian at the time, some executives were unhappy because the event was set to be held on the first day of the non-ratings period when talent will be unavailable to attend as shows will either be on hiatus or filming. 

It’s the second year in a row that the prestigious television industry event has been canned.

Last year ARE Media group publisher Fiona Connolly also regretfully announced the cancellation of the 2020 ceremony, originally scheduled for June.
