A 15 year-old boy from Texas is facing charges of capital murder after confessing to shooting his mom in the head and killing her, police say.

The unnamed boy allegedly killed his mom Aime Salinas-Alvarado, 47, at her home on Friday while she cared for her two year-old granddaughter.

Dallas Police officers were summoned to a home in the southwest of the city on Friday as they investigated reports of an abandoned child.

When they arrived, they found that a two-year-old child had in fact been dropped off at her great-grandparent’s home by an unknown individual. The child was supposed to be with her grandmother.

The great-grandparents then became concerned for the well-being of the child’s grandmother and requested a welfare check at the grandmother’s home.

Once there, they found Salinas dead of a single gunshot wound to the head.

It was quickly determined that her 15-year-old son had shot and killed her before taking the toddler who had been in the house to the great-grandparent’s home after the brutal murder, it is alleged.

The teen, who had not been named, then drove his mother’s car to a friend’s house, where he was later apprehended and taken into custody.

As he was questioned by Dallas Police he confessed to the killing. Officers have not revealed a motive for the murder, or revealed his exact relationship to the two year-old girl hos mom was caring for.

The teen was taken to Henry Wade Juvenile Detention Facility and to be charged with Capital Murder.
