World renowned director Steven Spielberg was glimpsed for the first time on the set of his semi-autobiographical movie The Fabelmans on Thursday, July 22.

The 74-year-old Hollywood heavyweight shot a few scenes for the upcoming film on the beach in Malibu, California with cast members Gabriel LaBelle, Sam Rechner (Ruby’s Choice), and Chloe East (Genera+ion) among others.

The movie — which is loosely based on his childhood in the fifties and sixties — also stars Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen and Paul Dano.

The three-time Oscar winner was seen masked up on the sand while wearing jeans and a white T-shirt underneath a button down and vest.

His silver hair was tucked underneath a grey baseball cap and he wore sunglasses while clasping his phone in hand.

The JAWS director was seen chatting to what appeared to be Gabriel LaBelle who was tapped to play a young Steven following a lengthy casting process.

LaBelle donned khaki pants and a pink striped button down and was later glimpsed holding a film camera during the beach scene.

Williams and Dano will play Spielberg’s parents Arnold Spielberg and Leah Adler — with an original voice — and Rogen was tapped to play his favorite uncle.

Steven also has three sisters Nancy, Anne, and Sue but casting for those parts have yet to be revealed.

The E.T. director had a very colorful childhood. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio but was raised between Haddon Township, New Jersey and Scottsdale, Arizona.
