Spice Girls ‘reunite for first time in over a year to work on upcoming game release but Victoria Beckham turns down invitation to get involved’

The Spice Girls have reunited for the first time in over a year, according to reports.

The iconic group met in London on Tuesday to ‘record pieces in front of the camera’ for their upcoming online game, however 47-year-old Victoria Beckham – who is in Miami – was not in attendance and ‘doesn’t want to be involved’.

Geri Horner, 49, Mel B, 46, Emma Bunton, 45, and Melanie C, 47, got together at Black Island Studios to work on the forthcoming project, which they are said to be ‘excited’ about.

A source told The Sun: ‘The Spice Girls are exploring a whole manner of new projects but this one was really exciting to them — their very own Spice game.

‘All four women came together on Tuesday at the studios to shoot pieces to camera for it. It’s something they’ve had in the pipeline for a while.’

They added: ‘It is one of several things they are working on, including an animated film, and they hope it will help celebrate the Spice Girls’ legacy.’

The source also told the paper that the group hopes to be able to tour once it’s safe to do so, but in the meantime are having fun working on ‘quirky’ projects that draw in ‘plenty of cash’.

It was reported in May that the Spice Girls have missed out on making millions after having to postpone plans for their reunion gigs.

Despite wanting to hit the road again to celebrate their 25th anniversary in 2021, the singers had to hit pause on any shows because of the pandemic.

For months fans have been hoping that The Spice Girls could reunite and in January Mel B said they would get back together ‘as soon as the rules will allow it.’

‘People need a bit of entertainment. Music brings people together. I would love it – as soon as the rules allow it, then yeah,’ she said, as reported The Mirror.

She went on: ‘Until the virus gets under control I don’t think anyone can securely say ”I’m definitely going on tour”.

‘When it comes to putting on a show or concert, I don’t know how people are going to do it without the proper guidelines and information, because things change on a weekly basis.

‘Us lot are definitely up for it – it’s just a case of timings and safety. I’m always itching to get back on to the stage.’
