Her new film stars Tessa Thompson and Ruth Negga and is based on a novella by Nella Larsen. 

And Rebecca Hall looked thrilled to be presenting her directorial debut Passing at the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival on Saturday in Edgartown, Massachusetts.

The Vicky Cristina Barcelona actress, 39, was statuesque in a long sleeveless black maxi dress, featuring colorful flourishes on one hip and a buttoned strap on one shoulder.

She slipped her feet into delicate black thongs.

The star also posed with Stephanie and Floyd Rance, founders of the long-running festival which began in 2002. 

The duo also introduced Rebecca on stage ahead of the screening of the movie to say a few words.

Passing is a period thriller taking place in the 1900s, following the unexpected reunion of a pair of former high school classmates whose renewed acquaintance sets off a mutual obsession that turns dangerous.

The film also stars Andre Holland, Bill Camp and Alexander Skarsgard.

Hall is most well-known as an actress in Woody Allen films Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) and 2019’s A Rainy Day In New York, along with Godzilla Vs. Kong earlier this year.

She is also slated to appear in With/In, an anthology film based in the current Covid-19 pandemic costarring Don Cheadle, Sanaa Lathan, Julianne Moore and Rosie Perez. 

In addition to serving as her feature film debut as a director, Passing is also Rebecca‘s first foray into screenwriting. 

The movie made its premiere this past January at the Sundance Film Festival.
