He was also pictured shaking hands with actress and cellist Lori Singer, and signing autographs for other attendees.

The East Hampton Artists & Writers Annual Softball Game was played in East Hampton’s Herrick Park and included hot dogs, hamburgers and ice cream.

The East Hampton Artists & Writers Annual Softball Game is a 501(C3) nonprofit that raises money to support organizations that provide services to the East End – from early childhood learning to hospice assistance to shelters for victims of abuse.

‘The East Hampton Artists & Writers Annual Softball Game and its events are dedicated to building a community around the game and building a better game to serve the community,’ the organization’s mission statement reads.

‘In the spirit of one of the longest continuing traditions on the East End, artists, writers, supporters and volunteers come together for entertainment, competition and fun to benefit local charities that provide vital human services.’

Some of the extensive notable alumni who have participated in the game include Jackson Pollock, Kurt Vonnegut, Tom Wolfe, Woody Allen, Yogi Berra, Matthew Broderick, Chevy Chase and Regis Philbin.

Pollock was among the players in the inaugural 1948 game.

Clinton seemingly became the first president to participate in the game, when he played in 1988 before he was elected to the office. He served as an umpire in 2019.

The former president appeared to attend the softball event without his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

However, Hillary had posted a photo to Instagram honoring the former president’s birthday on Thursday.

‘It’s hard to believe that this young man is turning 75 today. Happy birthday, dear Bill, and here’s to many more,’ Hillary had captioned the photo of Bill as a child.

Their daughter Chelsea Clinton had also honored her father for his birthday in a post made to Twitter, which included her as a child with her dad before he became president.

‘Happy 75th birthday, Dad! Looking forward to many more years of discovery with Charlotte, Aidan & Jasper,’ Chelsea tweeted on Thursday.
