Cap that! Pick-up driver’s airbag explodes and sends his hat flying across parking lot as he reverses off lamppost after bizarre fender bender
- A pick-up driver managed to drive his vehicle halfway up a pole in a parking lot
- Footage showed the moment he reversed the white truck back to the ground
- When the vehicle hit the ground the impact caused the airbag to release
A hapless pick-up driver got the shock of his life when his airbag suddenly deployed during a tricky maneuver and sent his baseball cap flying out of the truck window.
The driver of a Chevy Silverado had already somehow managed to drive the vehicle halfway up a pole in a parking lot.
Footage, filmed at an unidentified location in North America, showed him sitting at the wheel of the truck, which was wedged on the leaning lamppost with two wheels off the ground.
He started reversing the truck backwards, gradually backing it down from the pole.
A man filming encouraged the driver, saying: ‘Almost. Keep going, keep going. You got it, you got it.’
It appeared the truck must have collided with the pole because the cement at its base was cracked, with the bollard at an extreme angle under the truck’s fender.
As the truck crashed back down to the ground the driver was jolted from side to side by the impact. As the man filming shouted: ‘There you go’ there was a sudden pop sound.
The driver’s hat went flying out of the open window as the airbag was dramatically deployed, filling the driver’s side window and hiding him from view.
The video quickly went viral on TikTok, where it has been liked 2.3million times.
One comment read: ‘That’s turned a $3,000 job its a $30,000 one.’
