Pete Doherty flashes a broad smile as he shows off his slimmed-down frame on stage at the Home Sessions music festival in Coventry

Pete Doherty showed off a much slimmer frame while performing on stage at the Terry Hall presents Home Sessions in Coventry on Saturday.

The rocker, 42, looked significantly different from how he did in May after being pictured with a much fuller physique during a stroll in Normandy, in which he nibbled a wedge of cheese.

But Pete has appeared to work hard to shed the pounds as he displayed a distinctly trimmer figure while belting out tracks in Coventry Cathedral at the festival, which is part of UK City of Culture.

The Babyshambles star donned a white England football T-shirt and dark grey jeans, which he teamed with a pair of white trainers.

Pete appeared very happy with himself as he played his guitar to the crowds at the event.

It comes over a week after Pete made his return to performing in Newcastle in his first gig since the pandemic began.

The rockstar was one of the first musicians to take to the stage after Britain’s Freedom Day on July 19.

He performed his gig at the Riverside music venue, the first in the string of his intimate gigs.

Peter said earlier this year that he has been doing a lot of sleeping, eating French cheese and drinking water following his move to Normandy.

He is generally enjoying a much slower pace of life these days and has reportedly taken to the bowls-style sport, pétanque.

Pete is believed to join the locals at their club for a game of the French sport, which consists of throwing metal balls as close as possible to a target.

The once-troubled star, who lives with his film editor girlfriend Katia, has quit heroin and ketamine but revealed he still enjoying whipping up a cocktail.

One local told The Sun: ‘Peter is no longer a bad boy. He’s relaxing, settling down and loving the goods things in life.

‘We introduced him to pétanque and he’s fallen in love with the game. He often joins our club nights when we play.’

Mikael Grondin, who runs the bakery, said of Pete – who has slimmed down in recent months – ‘He is always popping in for a bag of Bout de Choux (creamy little cabbage), which is a pastry filled with cream. Maybe that’s why he’s put on weight but, don’t worry, these will be good for him.’

And Pete revealed recently that he especially enjoys cheese on toast and that his ‘guilty pleasure’ is sleeping after he used to stay up for ‘six days’.
