Retired Olympic swimmer James Magnussen shows off his fit form in red Speedos as he enjoys a casual winter dip at Bondi Beach with girlfriend Rose McEvoy

James Magnussen retired from his Olympic medal-winning career in 2019. 

The swimmer headed out for a casual dip at Bondi Beach on Saturday, alongside his girlfriend Rose McEvoy. 

The 30-year-old showed off his fit form as he took a dip on what was a sunny winter day.

James sported a pair of tiny red Speedos, the rippling abs and lean muscles that made him a champion on display. 

He covered up his shoulders with a white and yellow striped towel and wore sunglasses. 

His gorgeous blonde girlfriend joined him for a stroll after his swim, the pair walking along the promenade, with Rose wearing a loose blue sweatshirt.

She added a pair of shorts in the same colour, and both she and James went barefoot. 

James popped his clothes back on, opting for black shorts and a a tank top with white lettering. 

The Australian Olympic swimmer announced his retirement in 2019, after winning 15 medals for Australia at major international events over 10 years.

Despite being a leading face of Australian swimming for many years, James attracted controversy when he was fined for his role as part of the ‘Stilnox six’.   

The Stilnox scandal took place during the 2012 London Olympics where he and some teammates took the sleeping pills as part of a bonding session during a pre-Games camp.    

James won the world 100-metre freestyle titles at the 2011 and 2013 world championships in Shanghai and Barcelona, respectively.

In 2012, he also won silver in the 100-metre freestyle at the London Olympics coming in behind US gold medalist Nathan Adrian by just 0.1 second.

Following shoulder surgery in 2015, he returned to compete at the 2016 Rio Olympics where he won a bronze medal as part of the Australian 4×100 freestyle relay team.

In June 2019, the athlete announced that he was retiring from the sport, and in 2020, he appeared on the reality show SAS Australia.
