‘I almost had a heart attack!’ Panicking fans assume the worst as cancer-stricken Olivia Newton-John trends on Twitter

Olivia Newton-John is currently battling stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. 

So when the 72-year-old began trending on Twitter on Tuesday morning, fans assumed the worst.   

Panic swirled on social media as fans realised Olivia hadn’t posted to Instagram or Twitter in three days.

Thankfully, the reason why Olivia was trending had nothing to do with her wellbeing. 

In fact, the Grease star is actually celebrating the 43rd anniversary of her first American TV special with Swedish pop group ABBA. 

Relieved, one fan Tweeted: ‘Saw that Olivia Newton John was trending. My god, I almost had a heart attack. She’s supposed to live forever.’

‘I literally saw Olivia Newton-John trending and almost burst into tears thinking the worst!! Thank goodness she’s trending because she’s fabulous!’ another wrote, while someone else added: ‘Don’t scare me like that!’   

Olivia has had metastatic breast cancer three times, having battled the disease previously in 1992 and 2013. 

In January, the superstar told The One Show that she was feeling healthier than ever after treating her condition with plant medicine and medical cannabis.

In December last year, Olivia and her husband John Easterling launched the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund to support research into plant medicine for cancer.
