SEAL Team 8 has eight operational platoons and a headquarters. It covers the Caribbean, Africa and the Mediterranean and deploys platoons with amphibious ships and carrier battle groups to support the U.S> 2nd, 5th and 6th fleets.

Despite the tough training program SEALs undergo, fatal accidents are relatively rare.

However, during 2013 and 2019 a total of nine SEALs died in training accidents, while just four were killed in combat over the same timespan, Task & Purpose reported.
