Melissa McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone have been in Australia filming various projects since last year.

And on Sunday, Ben, 47, was spotted enjoying a low-key stroll with a male pal in Byron Bay, where he and his family have been based.

It comes after Melissa and Ben’s upcoming comedy series for Netflix, called God’s Favorite Idiot, abruptly wrapped up production recently.

Ben and his friend appeared to enjoy a chat as they made around the celebrity enclave, and grabbed takeaway coffees as they walked around.

According to Deadline, production on Melissa and Ben’s new show God’s Favorite Idiot abruptly wrapped up because Netflix wants to film the show in two separate 8-episode parts, amid reports.

Eight episodes of the show have already been filmed.

‘We are so sad to leave Australia, as it has truly felt like home to us this past year,’ Ben and Melissa said in a statement, according to Deadline.

‘We were so lucky to have had the best, hardest working Australian cast and crew. We are so proud of God’s Favorite Idiot and cannot wait to share it with everyone.’

It remains unclear when Melissa and Ben and their family will leave Australia.

They were first spotted on set filming God’s Favorite Idiot back in March in Lismore, 45km west of Byron Bay.

God’s Favorite Idiot is a workplace comedy about a mid-level tech support employee Clark Thompson (Falcone) who finds love with co-worker Amily Luck (McCarthy) at exactly the same time he becomes the unwitting messenger of God.

Melissa and Ben were recently granted $10 million from the federal government’s Local Incentive program to film God’s Favorite Idiot in Australia.

‘To have the opportunity to safely film our show in a beautiful country like Australia is a dream come true,’ the couple said in a statement in February.

‘We love this country and the talented people who live and work here.’

Back in December, it was reported that Melissa enjoyed working in Byron so much that she was doing anything she could to shoot her next project in Australia.

While in Australia, Melissa has filmed scenes for Thor: Love and Thunder and also shot Nine Perfect Strangers alongside the likes of Nicole Kidman and The Hobbit’s Luke Evans.
