Maura, who looks incredible for the launch of her new footwear range with EGO, told MailOnline: ‘I’m not working out as much as I was, I ended up losing too much weight.

‘I’m not doing it as much, once, twice a week max, and to be honest I’m just really good with my diet at the moment. It’s all about balance.

‘At the weekends I eat what I want and during the week I obviously try my best to eat healthier foods. But with the exercise, it’s very easy to get obsessed with it.

‘It got to a stage where it was actually affecting my periods; I lost my period for four months. Especially at my age, it’s obviously not good. I want to have kids someday so I know that’s just not a good thing to happen.

‘I remember even Chris was saying to me “Maura, that’s just not good, we need to sort this out” I was like “yeah, I know.”

‘When you have good people around you, mammy as well, she noticed, she said “you’ve got too thin” or whatever and I was like “yeah, yeah, yeah I know, I’m trying to sort it out.”‘

In June, Maura told MailOnline she started exercising in lockdown and couldn’t believe how ‘lean’ her body had become after doing fitness guru Joe Wicks’ workouts online.

But now, after listening to the advice of her loved ones, she’s taken a step back from regular and intensive exercise.

She said: ‘I eased off the exercise and upped my calories and stuff. It’s good to have people around you that are not afraid to say these things to you. It’s so important. I’m feeling so much better.’

Excessive weight loss can cause periods to stop, and restricting the amount of calories you eat prevents the production of hormones needed for ovulation.

The TV personality, who went public with Love Island co-star Chris in November, revealed she has been thinking more about motherhood after reaching her 30s.

She said: ‘Since turning 30 I’m more broody. My best friend back home just had a baby and honestly my ovaries are not able to cope.

‘I’m so excited to have a baby some day. It’s still one of my biggest fears, childbirth, but I’ll definitely, definitely want a baby some day.’

Earlier this month, Maura shared a photo on Instagram of her grey roots and was inundated with messages from fans that keep their natural hair colour a heavily guarded secret.

But Maura’s used to her roots after turning grey aged 18 – and says boyfriend Chris prefers when she hasn’t dyed her hair or remembered to use a touch-up spray.

She said: ‘I put on Instagram a picture of my grey hairs and honestly the amount of messages I got from younger girls, girls in their early 20s saying “oh my God, thank you so much for this, I’ve never shown anyone my grey hair, I keep it a secret but now I feel like I’m going to embrace it and not be afraid.”

‘My hair went grey when I was 18. I’m so used to it now, 18 feels like a long time ago. I don’t know why it happened, maybe I’m old on the inside! I just said to mammy “why has this happened? Why do I get the bad genes?” She said to me “well it’s not from me because I didn’t have grey hair at 18!”

‘Chris loves it!’: But Maura’s used to her roots after turning grey aged 18 – and says boyfriend Chris prefers when she hasn’t dyed her hair or remembered to use a touch-up spray

‘When I was a hairdresser I used to dye my hair every couple of weeks but I haven’t dyed my hair in about a year. The grey roots are out there, I am going through the L’Oréal touchup spray like no tomorrow!

‘Chris loves it, sometimes when I don’t put my root spray on he’s like “I love looking at your little grey hairs” and I’m like “don’t!” As if it’s cute when I feel like it’s because I’m old! He prefers me in my PJs, no makeup, hair up on my head, not groomed at all, he loves it.’

Maura’s new collection with EGO features 10 pairs of shoes and five handbags and is available to buy online from April 28.

The Irish beauty shot the campaign in Dubai when it was still safe to travel and has waited months to launch the catwalk-inspired range.

Maura, who’s also filmed her first TV advert with the brand, said like close friend Molly-Mae Hague, 21, she’s learned to embrace her natural looks and the last time she had filler was three months after she found fame on Love Island in 2019.

She said: ‘I got my lips done three months after coming out of Love Island and lip fillers lasts five-six months and I haven’t had anything done since then, I just let it dissolve. I just feel like the natural look is more in now.

‘I didn’t get a lot put into my lips; I didn’t feel under any pressure to get them done.

‘I haven’t had my lips done since then which is around two years ago but people still assume I’ve had my lips done, Botox, people are even saying I’ve had my nose done when I’ve not actually had any work.

‘I had braces on for a long time and since my teeth have moved, they’ve actually pushed my lips out slightly and I feel like I don’t need it. If I were to get my lips down now with my straight teeth, it just wouldn’t be a good look.’

Speaking about her new collection that ranges in price from £19.99–£34.99 for the footwear, Maura said: ‘I can’t wait for this to be launched now because we shot it so long ago. It was last year.

‘I took some inspiration from the catwalk, I wanted something different, bold prints, bright colours, just something really, really different.

‘I have a TV advert coming out with them as well and it’s my first TV advert. It’s one of my favourite shoots to date, the weather was amazing, even the outfits – the styling, it was all very, very me.’
