Viewers rushed to poke fun at the unique look, with some comparing the garment to a newborn’s blanket.

‘Ok… who thinks Melissa Leong’s outfit is made from the hospital baby blanket on MasterChef tonight? [laugh emojis]’ one viewer joked.

‘Melissa’s jumpsuit is almost the same exact pattern of some winter flannel sheets we used to sleep in when I was a kid,’ another agreed.

Melissa took the criticism in good humour, posting a poll to Instagram Stories on Tuesday night encouraging fans to vote on what her outfit most resembled.

‘Am I wearing: (a) an upcycled ’80s baby blanket, (b) gay athleisure for the gods, (c) your childhood flannelette sheets, or (d) Skipper Barbie’s weekend getup?’ she joked.

However, several fans took a shine to Melissa’s daring ensemble and wasted no time in praising her on social media.
