You might want to grab the tissues for the latest episode of Marvel’s What If…?. Not only does it feature one of the last performances of the late Chadwick Boseman, but it also includes a touching dedication to his memory. The tribute, which happens during the end credits, reads, “Dedicated to our friend, our inspiration, and our hero Chadwick Boseman.” Boseman, who died from colon cancer in 2020, ended up voicing four different versions of T’Challa for the Disney+ series, so we have three more chances to hear his take on the iconic character.

We never got to hang out or speak together and work together on the project really. A lot of stuff is already shot and it’s already recorded usually, and at the end of the day, it’s all put together and where did all the time go? You do your part, and he does his part, and it’s really quick,” Michael Rooker, who plays Star-Lord’s mentor Yondu, told Entertainment Weekly. “It took us several sessions but it was really a blast. I had no idea that it ended up being his last performance. Boy oh boy, what a shame. What a loss. It was terrible. But the work, the legacy of the work is there for everyone to see.” You can catch a glimpse of Boseman in action as Star-Lord in the What If…? trailer below.
