Martine McCutcheon, 44, says she feels ‘much more sexy now’ than she ever did in her twenties

Martine McCutcheon has said she feels much sexier now than she ever did when she was younger.

The actress, 44, revealed she is a more fulfilled and confident person now she is older than when she was starting her career in her twenties two decades ago.

She said that ‘genuine confidence’ took her time and says she looks up to older actresses like Jennifer Lopez and Helen Mirren who still have successful careers.

She told The Sun: ‘I’m feeling so much more fulfilled, confident and sexy than I ever did in my twenties.

‘What’s amazing is looking at people like Jennifer Lopez and Helen Mirren, who are ageing and yet their careers are still going strong. They’ve got this inner glow.

‘People always thought I was really confident, but it was a good act. Genuine confidence took time for me.’

It comes as Martine has just signed with Elite model agency, which has had supermodels like Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford on its books, and is hoping to get involved in TV presenting.

The Masked Singer contestant told the publication she is ‘grateful to be getting these opportunities’ especially in an industry that can be ‘disposable and ruthless’ when it comes to women her age.

Mother-of-one Martine added that showbusiness is tough and it’s hard to see so many people come and go.

She also said that TV presenting seems like a ‘natural progression’ for her but that it has ‘taken her a while to be comfortable as herself in front of the camera’.

During the interview Martine also said she is grateful for her striking looks and is thankful to her mother for giving her her apple cheeks and cheekbones.

It comes after Martine revealed that she thought she might kill Hugh Grant on the first day of filming Love Actually as she had to run and ‘jump up and straddle him’.

The actress revealed the embarrassing moment on BBC‘s The One Show on Friday saying that she feared the force of the jump would knock over and kill her co-star, 62.

Speaking about the final scene when Natalie is reunited with David in the airport, Martine said: ‘The first day was at Heathrow, the first day filming when I had to go and jump on him.

‘And it was like Dirty Dancing – you know when she runs and then she stops, and then she runs and then she stops?

‘And the whole crew were there, and I had to do that, and I’m like, “I’m going to kill him! I’m going to knock him over and I’m going to kill him!” I couldn’t do it.’

Despite the pressure of the whole crew and some very famous cast members watching her, Martine said that Hugh quickly put her at ease.

She said: ‘Emma Thompson was there… and everyone was watching and I kept getting so embarrassed.

‘He [Hugh] said, ‘Oh don’t be stupid, you’re not going to kill me’.

‘And in the end we managed it. But what a thing, you’ve got to jump up at Hugh Grant and straddle him, first day!’

Martine played a No. 10 tea lady, Natalie, that caught the eye of the Prime Minister, David, portrayed by Hugh in the iconic Christmas-themed movie.

Hugh, who’s used to warming hearts in films like Love Actually, Notting Hill and Bridget Jones’s Diary, could be set to make an appearance in Sex And The City for the upcoming reboot as Sarah Jessica Parker wants a ‘big’ male star to join the cast.
