The Irish star, 30, has been getting to know Giovanni, 30, in secret the last month, following her split from fellow Love Island contestant Chris Taylor in May.

And Maura clearly has a type, after she and ballroom dancer Curtis Pritchard, 25, whose brother AJ, 26, is an ex-Strictly pro, fell for each other on the 2019 series of Love Island.

‘It’s early days, but Maura is really enjoying getting to know Giovanni, and the feeling is mutual,’ a source told MailOnline. They’re both career driven and ambitious, which are qualities they find really attractive in each other.’

Giovanni, 30, whose ex-girlfriends include former Coronation Street actress Georgia May Foote, TOWIE’s Jess Wright and Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts, has liked a string of Maura’s sexy bikini pictures on Instagram, while the pair also follows each other on the social media site.

Fans suspected there could be romance between them after Maura and Giovanni were spotted sitting alongside each other during Italy’s Euro 2020 win over Austria at Wembley on Saturday.

MailOnline has contacted Maura and Giovanni’s representatives for comment.

In May, Maura announced her split from Chris, writing on Instagram: ‘It breaks my heart to even type this but I wanted to let everyone know we have made the joint decision to end our relationship.’

Chris added in a statement posted to his profile: ‘We are both still on very good terms and this was a mutual decision where nobody had done anything wrong. We will remain friends, as we have been since day one and I will always be in Maura’s corner and have her back.’

MailOnline revealed Maura and Curtis had parted ways in March 2020 following eight-months of dating.

The couple ended their relationship amid speculation Curtis had been unfaithful with dancer Amber Pierson, who later became his girlfriend.

At the time, Curtis denied he had cheated and is currently single again after telling MailOnline in October 2020 his romance with Amber had ‘fizzled out.’

Giovanni and Ashley, who was a runner-up on Strictly in 2018, broke up in January 2020 following a year of dating.

The Italian pro dancer dated soap actress Georgia after they competed together on Strictly in 2015, but they split a year later.

Strictly viewers believed history could be repeating itself after Giovanni and Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir Singh impressed the judges with their ‘chemistry’, though romance was never confirmed between the pair.

In April of this year, Giovanni claimed in an interview he can have sex up to ‘150 times a week’ when he’s in a relationship, and admitted to being ‘lonely’ following the end of his relationship with Ashley.

He said: ‘Like for everybody, it’s been strange. I broke up with my girlfriend just before lockdown and you just deal with it. It was lonely, but luckily, Strictly came back and there was the distraction of being in quarantine with everybody else. It shifted my brain to something else.’

‘If I’m in a relationship, it depends on your partner – if your partner is busy, if you’re tired, if you’re on holiday, at home. You can have sex 150 times a week or once – you’ve just got to make it good.’
