The McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish burger is a popular menu option sold across restaurant locations, but many seemed eager to try the homemade alternative.

An employee from the fast food chain also confirmed customers can purchase a variety of McDonald’s products from selected stores.

‘I work at McDonald’s and you can buy any buns, we also sell pickles in a cup, milk, eggs and the meat patties on their own,’ she wrote.

Another mum said: ‘Well that looks very yummy. Love Fillet-O-Fish. We usually get the double one at McDonald’s. Homemade and more generous with the fillet is fantastic.’

The fish patties (Made in Australia from imported and local ingredients) are a fantastic source of protein and have a high health star rating of four out of five.

Each box contains two serves of buttermilk coated Alaskan Pollock that simply need to be heated in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 25 minutes.

The brioche buns, tartar sauce and chips were also purchased from the supermarket giant, but the lettuce was home grown.
