A fisherman has captured the spine-tingling moment a venomous snake made its way onto his boat while sailing the high seas.

Footage posted to TikTok on October 11 shows a striped snake, believed to be a banded sea krait, sticking it’s head out of the rod holder on the side of a boat.

Hardly phased by the incredibly venomous creature, the Melbourne man continues to fish as the snake curiously looks around the small boat.

‘So it’s not everyday you are fishing and a sea snake crawls on to your boat and tries to sleep in your rod holder,’ the man who captured the footage wrote alongside the video.

‘Hey mate we’ve got work to do we will just keep working if that is alright,’ he says to the animal as he continues to fish.

The banded sea krait, a species of sea snake, often comes to the shoreline to nest, find food and rest on land.

The species has a potent venom which could potentially be fatal for a human if they were bitten out in the wild.

But unless they are provoked the banded sea krait will more than likely slither away before causing any lasting damage.

The video was captioned ‘would you be scared in this situation?’ prompting users to comment on the footage.

‘I wouldn’t be scared he looks cute,’ one user said.

While another added: ‘one bite, game over’.
