Hilaria Baldwin calls herself ‘multi cultured’ in veiled comments about Spanish heritage scandal

Hilaria Baldwin appears to be trudging back up her now infamous Spanish heritage scandal in a long Instagram post that makes thinly veiled references to her ‘culture.’

In an essay-length social media caption shared on Thursday, Hilaria explained that she and her family recently discussed ‘how we grew up, our languages, our cultures’ which she called ‘multi & very valid.’

‘People will try to find reason to invalidate you,’ she said in apparent reference to the wide-spread criticism she faced after it was revealed her Spanish accent and purported heritage were made up.

Fueling the fire: Hilaria Baldwin trudged her Spanish heritage scandal back up in a long Instagram post about being ‘multi cultured’ where she made reference to learning through a ‘painful experience’ and said people had a right to ‘curate’ their culture

‘I had a very special experience-I spent time with my family for the first time in nearly 2 years, due to Covid. We talked about how we grew up, our languages, our cultures-multi& very valid,’ Hilaria began in her caption.

‘We discussed belonging& how there are people who want to deny others their right to belong. When you are multi, it can feel hard to belong. You are constantly going back and forth, trying to be more this or more that.

The photo shared alongside the diatribe featured she and Alec Baldwin’s daughter Carmen, seven, smiling and holding up a piece of her hand made multi-colored artwork. Hilaria turned the general commenting feature off of the post and opted to have comments limited.

‘You feel you have to explain why you are the way you are, trying to fit into a world of labels when there might not be one that perfectly defines you,’ she continued.

Hilaria went on describe never quite fitting in because being ‘multi’ isn’t something that ‘cleanly switches on & off.’

‘We all get to curate our individual expressions of our cultures, languages, who we love, what we believe in, how we dress, present ourselves. This is the right that each person should have,’ she said.

Hilaria certainly ‘curated’ a different culture for her public persona than the one that was based in reality.

Prior to 2020, she claimed to be born in Mallorca, Spain, only moving to the United States for college, but it was later uncovered in a massive pubic reckoning that Baldwin was born Hilary Thomas and was actually from Boston.

While she never mentioned the scandal directly in her Instagram post, it was evident that is what she was referring to, particularly towards the end when Hilaria doled out some options for critics.

'We all get to curate our individual expressions of our cultures, languages, who we love, what we believe in, how we dress, present ourselves. This is the right that each person should have,' she wrote in the caption

‘People who don’t have your life experience can: 1. Accept it at face value & move on 2. Be curious & want to learn 3. Connect & find similarities to relate to What they shouldn’t do is devalue,’ she wrote.

‘You are valid, worthy &you don’t need to explain or get into the uncomfortable ‘prove it’ conversation. You don’t owe that to anyone. Just be a good, kind human of this earth,’ the yoga instructor continued, though it was unclear who the royal ‘you’ was in this case.

‘We need to normalize the fact that we are all unique-our culture, languages, sexual orientations, religions, political beliefs are ALLOWED TO BE FLUID,’ Hilaria said. ‘No two of us are completely alike. People will try to find reason to invalidate you, therefore their attacks seem justified in their eyes.

Both Hilaria and Alec had claimed for over a decade that English was her second language, and a viral clip showed the yoga instructor seeming to forget the English word for ‘cucumber’ during a cooking segment.

‘You have to admire Hilaria Baldwin’s commitment to her decade long grift where she impersonates a Spanish person,’ the tweet read.

However, it was revealed that on both sides of her family she had affluent multi-generational ties to Massachusetts and her parents Kathryn Hayward and David Thomas only relocated to Mallorca, Spain in 2011.

The pair’s wedding had tons of Spanish touches so she could bring ‘a bit of [her] culture,’ she said in 2012. Hilaria held a flamenco fan and they read their nuptials in both languages, and their wedding bands even had the inscription ‘somos un buen equipo,’ inside.

Additionally she had chosen to give all six of their children Spanish names: Carmen, seven, Rafael, five, Leonardo, four, Romeo, two, Eduardo, nine months, and Marilu, four months.

After much online criticism, Hilaria tried to come clean about all of it in an Instagram video, confessing, ‘Yes I am a white girl, my family is white,’ while clarifying that she had grown up ‘in this country.’
