Countless Euphoria fans have mimicked the characters’ racy outfits and glittery makeup on TikTok, but there’s one superfan in a league of his own, dressing up dolls to meticulously reenact popular scenes from the HBO series. If you haven’t come across the latter yet, allow us to introduce our new favorite Instagram account, @Euphoriaddicted. Although the Swedish creator prefers to remain anonymous, he let POPSUGAR in on some details about the ongoing DIY project, which is steadily gaining popularity on social media.
“I fell in love with the aesthetic of the series.”
Like many who’ve seen the show, @Euphoriaddicted’s founder was instantly hooked when it debuted in 2019. “I’ve loved it since the first episode,” he said. “Besides the stories and the amazing characters, I fell in love with the aesthetic of the series. As it’s quite gritty and dark, I think it’s cool to recreate the scenes with Barbies that usually are used in much lighter and more playful situations.”
Using his kitchen as a workshop, he sews spot-on mini replicas of costumes, gathers teeny-tiny props he’s made or collected at flea markets, and positions the dolls in “memorable scenes that stick with the viewer.” For season one, that included the Halloween party, Jules and Rue’s first sleepover, the East Highland winter formal, and Maddy turning heads at the carnival’s chili-cooking contest. So far for Euphoria‘s second season, he’s tackled Cassie hiding out in the bathtub, Fezco preparing to fight Nate on New Year’s Eve, and even newcomer Faye getting shoved in the air conditioning vent. The precision and attention to detail in each creation is beyond impressive.
In light of Euphoria‘s highly anticipated return this month, @Euphoriaddicted is attracting a new wave of followers, but some have been loyal fans since the beginning. Both Maude Apatow (Lexi) and Alanna Ubach (Suze) double-tapped on pictures of his season one masterpieces, and Sydney Sweeney (Cassie) once reposted a snap on her Instagram Stories. Plus, costume designer Heidi Bivens and show creator Sam Levinson have given the project their seal of approval, so you know it’s legit.
If it’s not already obvious enough, @Euphoriaddicted is a must-follow, but just in case you need more inspiration to do so, we’ve spotlight our favorite scene re-creations ahead. Fingers crossed he takes on Cassie’s fake baby bump or Ashtray pistol-whipping Cal Jacobs next!
