EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Mick Jagger does a roaring trade in scaring off party-goers

Sir Mick Jagger has an unusual method of scaring away fellow party-goers he doesn’t want to talk to: the Rolling Stones front man roars at them like a lion.

‘I was at a party after a big award ceremony where there were tons of celebrities,’ says Hollywood actor David Boreanaz, who played Angel in Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

‘I was making my way through when I saw Mick Jagger in a booth with his crew and thinking I’m going to have a “Hey, Mick Jagger, how are you?” moment. But when I got about three feet away, he does this whole “Roaaaaagh!”

‘I was, like, “Woah, Mick Jagger was growling at me. Okay, I’m not coming towards your den, bud. I’ll keep passing”.’

He adds: ‘It was a lion. It was weird that he’s growling at you out of nowhere.’

Italians are still chuckling over classics scholar Boris Johnson’s attempt to impress his hosts at the G20 summit by naming the seven hills on which ancient Rome was founded. The Prime Minister comfortably reeled off five before visibly struggling. Calling on his Latin lessons at Eton he managed to name Capitoline, Quirinal, Viminal, Esquiline, and Aventine, before erring and naming Lateran, not one of the hills. He then sought help from Italian PM Mario Draghi, who incorrectly suggested Oppio. The missing two, as Boris should know, were Palatine and Caelian.

Now is the Wintour of our contentment

A double celebration is in store for fashion queen Dame Anna Wintour.

Not only did the Vogue U.S. chief turn 72 yesterday, but she’s also just welcomed her first grandson — and already he’s a natty dresser!

Bee Shaffer, 34, whose father is Anna’s ex-husband, the child psychiatrist David Shaffer, has given birth to her first child, a son named Oliver.

TV producer Bee is married to Francesco Carrozzini, 39, son of late Vogue Italia editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani.

A friend says: ‘Anna’s over the moon.’

Ballykissangel star Victoria Smurfit will be seen desperately scouring second-hand shops for bargains tonight on BBC2’s Celebrity Antiques Road Trip with a budget of £400, but her super-rich uncle has rather grander ambitions. I hear that packaging tycoon Sir Michael Smurfit is putting part of his art collection under the hammer at Sotheby’s later this month, and it’s expected to fetch at least £10 million.

Lowe down on Daisy’s latest image

Voluptuous model Daisy Lowe has previously criticised women for being ‘our own worst enemies when it comes to how we look’ — but the former Strictly star admits she still struggles with her own body image.

‘It’s fascinating how so much can change in a year,’ says the lingerie model, referring to this picture of herself (inset, top). ‘How many times I’ve beaten myself up since it was taken and how many times I’ve had to pull myself up on it.’

Daisy, 32, whose parents are interior designer Pearl Lowe and U.S. rock star Gavin Rossdale, adds that she’s enlisted professional help to get back in shape and shed the pounds.

‘I’m excited to be back with a personal trainer I’ve been working with on and off for seven years. She taught me that your body is the product of how you are doing upstairs — when you get your head right, your body follows.’

Star Wars actor John Boyega clearly believes The Force is still with the property market. I hear the Peckham-born actor has set up a company, Upperroom Properties, and has spent £4.2million on real estate investments. Boyega, 29, who played Finn in the blockbusters, is said to have an £18 million fortune.

Why Ellie’s more fun at parties…

Having taken up acting lessons, pop star Ellie Goulding has discovered one added benefit — she’s now more entertaining at parties.

The 30-year-old, who sang at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding reception, says: ‘I’ve been working with an acting coach and she’s taught me the power of just telling a story — not feeling I have to say, “Actually, you know what, this is boring, you guys won’t find this interesting”.’

To misquote George Michael: ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, Ellie.’
