Ed Sheeran dons an eye-catching jacket which pal Elton John lent him for the star-studded GQ awards

Ed Sheeran took style inspiration from his pal Elton John as he wore an eye-catching Versace jacket chosen by the music legend to attend the 2021 GQ Men Of The Year Awards on Wednesday.

The hitmaker, 30, boasted a rainbow coloured jacket in the designer’s signature print as he walked the red carpet in London‘s Tate Modern.

Ed, who won Solo Artist Of The Year at the star-studded awards, cut a dapper figure in the ensemble despite admitting that fact that he usually finds wearing a suit uncomfortable.

He told The Sun: ‘It’s weird, I’ve always hated suits and they make me feel uncomfortable — and yet something like this makes me feel all right because it’s so out-there.’

‘Elton hooked me up with Donatella Versace and I thought, “Let’s go for it! It’s a big night and it’s great to be back out, so why not?”‘

He added: ‘[Elton] has been s******g off my boring wardrobe for years. I’m not really a fashion guy but I’ve had to start to show an interest – he loves it. Elton approved — it’s very him.’

Ed paired the number with a simple black skinny tie, a white shirt and black trousers as he made his way down the red carpet.
