For everyone who grew up watching reruns of Legends of the Hidden Temple and wishing they could participate only to find out the show ended in 1995, do I have news for you! On Tuesday, Deadline reported that The CW has ordered a reboot of the classic Nickelodeon show, which had previously been set to be rebooted by the now-defunct Quibi. Legends of the Hidden Temple centers on six teams of two participating in three rounds of competition to find out who earns the right to enter the temple. This new edition will no longer feature kids as contestants and will instead be all about nostalgia-loving adults. Sorry, Gen Z, you have to be 21 or older to participate.
While many elements of the show are changing — the prizes are bigger, the challenges are tougher, and it’ll no longer be filmed in a studio — you’ll still be able to experience Olmec, the Moat Crossings, the Steps of Knowledge, and the Temple Run. As for team names, the Purple Parrots, Blue Barracudas, Orange Iguanas, Red Jaguars, Silver Snakes, and Green Monkeys will still be up for grabs. Applications are currently open here, but keep in mind that contestants must apply in teams of two and you have to be available to film in Los Angeles in July. Legend has it you also might want to brush up on your knowledge of the human body, geography, science, history, and pop culture, just saying.
