Covid-19: Meet the pampered lockdown pets of Australian celebrities


Many Aussies have bought lockdown pets since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic last year, as a result of spending a lot more time at home.

And celebrities are no different, with a number of them showing off their furry friends on Instagram.

From Oscar winner Nicole Kidman to actor Liam Hemsworth and model Lara Worthington, take a look at some of the country’s most beloved pets.

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman has a number of animals and likes to post photos of her pets online.

She owns a rescue cat named Luis, and two others called Ginger and Snow.

More recently, the 54-year-old adopted a toy poodle named Julian.

However, she has described herself as a ‘cat person’, according to She Knows.

In the same report, Nicole revealed her family had owned three cats growing up in Australia, which she adored.   

Nicole and her husband, country singer Keith Urban, own a trophy home in the NSW Southern Highlands, but they are believed to be back in the U.S. with their children.

Liam Hemsworth

The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth is known for being an animal lover. 

He often uploads photos of his dog Dora on Instagram, and reportedly adopted a new dog with his girlfriend Gabriella Brooks only recently.

The 31-year-old seems to favour canines over felines, and used to have a pet dog called Tani, whom he nicknamed ‘Little Brown’.

Sam and Lara Worthington

Lara Worthington (née Bingle) is regularly seen out with her puppy Otis, which her family adopted in September 2019. 

The 34-year-old introduced the pet to her fans via Instagram, writing: ‘The newest addition to our family… #adopted.’

The beauty entrepreneur was pictured last year with Otis while hiking near her home in LA. The Worthingtons have since moved to Sydney.

Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky  

The Hemsworths are known to be animal lovers – especially Chris’ wife Elsa Pataky. 

The mother of three, 44, who lives with her husband in a $30million Byron Bay mansion, introduced ‘Tina the Pig’ on Instagram after moving in a few years ago. 

Chris, 37, also owns a dog, Sunny, who has featured on magazine covers with him.

The comedian, 40, shared a video on Instagram of the moment model Rebecca met the tiny dog for the first time. 

‘When Bec met Henri. We’ve been waiting for this pup for a long, long time. I’ve known it was arriving today for about four months. Rapt to have kept the secret,’ he wrote in the caption.
