Back To The Future star Christopher Lloyd plays Rick Sanchez alongside Jaeden Martell’s Morty in the new live-action Rick And Morty promo teaser

Christopher Lloyd delighted fans on Friday when he appeared as Rick Sanchez in a new live-action Rick And Morty promo clip.

Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim released a video in which the 82-year-old actor starred as the mad scientist who drags his grandson Morty, played in the clip by Jaeden Martell, on wild science fiction adventures.

Lloyd has long been the fan-favorite choice to take on the role of Rick due to the character’s resemblance to wacky inventor Doc Brown, who Christopher played in all installments of the Back to the Future franchise.

Back to the Future was the inspiration for Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon’s beloved animated series which is airing its fifth season on Cartoon Network.

The appearances and mannerisms of Rick and Morty were loosely based on Lloyd’s Brown and Michael J. Fox’s Marty McFly.

In the 14 second clip, a neon green portal appears in Rick’s garage. Christopher and Jaeden emerge from the portal with Lloyd belching, ‘Morty, we’re home.’

Jaeden replies with Morty’s trademark line ‘Oh Jeez,’ as he nervously runs a hand through his hair. Both actors were clad in costumes modeled on the outfits worn by their animated counterparts.

The clip was titled C-132 which was the name of the universe that Rick and Morty hailed from in the first two volumes of Oni Press’ Rick and Morty comic book series.

It’s not exactly clear if the promo was teasing the upcoming fifth season finale which will air on Monday night or another project.

In 2018, Lloyd told The Phoenix New Times that he would like to appear as a guest star in the hit Adult Swim sitcom.

‘I don’t follow it closely, but I’ve seen a few episodes and I gotta tell you, I think it’s a lot of fun. I know it’s some kind of parody of Doc and Marty.’

Upon being asked if he would ever want to guest star or do a guest voice on the show, Christopher said, ‘I’d like to, of course. I think it’s really fun.’
