Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Dani Soares admits motherhood ‘has been hard’

Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Dani Soares recently welcomed a baby daughter named Lilly Rose.

And on Wednesday, the 33-year-old opened up about how difficult her motherhood journey has been so far.

The Brazilian-born yachtie is now based permanently in Sydney, Australia, but her family still lives in Brazil, which has left her with little support since Lilly’s birth.

Tough times: Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Dani Soares recently welcomed a baby daughter named Lilly Rose. And on Wednesday, the 33-year-old opened up about how difficult her motherhood journey has been so far

‘I’m tired, it’s not easy, but seeing her little face just makes everything worth it,’ she said on Instagram.

‘It’s been hard from the beginning,’ she continued. ‘We don’t share how hard it is, we just see perfect pictures on Instagram and it’s been really, really hard for the first couple of weeks with breastfeeding and being alone.

‘I’m terrible at asking for help because for the first 11 years I’ve basically been on my own and making my own decisions, but you do need help.

‘You need as much help as you can get and it’s just been really hard, but I’m getting smiles now so that makes everything worth it.’

Dani said that the best advice she could give any other single mothers is to make sure you have friends and family around, and a great support system.

Unfortunately for the Bravo star, she was unable to bring her own mum over from Brazil to help with the baby due to coronavirus restrictions and steep quarantine costs.

Dani’s also unable to take advantage of Australia’s paid maternity leave because she’s been in Australia for less than a year, leaving her to have to live off her savings.

‘I have to go back to work next month and leave Lilly in childcare, so sad,’ she said.

While she’s preparing to go back to work as a beauty therapist, Dani has also been studying part time to become a nurse, which she calls her ‘dream job’.

She also added that she doesn’t plan to leave Australia and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

‘I’m so happy that I’m here and I would not leave this country for any reason, whatsoever. It’s the best country for me and my daughter, one hundred per cent.’

Lilly’s father is rumoured to be Dani’s Below Deck Sailing Yacht co-star Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux, who is based in North Carolina when he isn’t working on yachts.

Last week, Dani told People magazine that she doesn’t currently have a relationship with Lilly’s father.

She said she’s ‘not going to force anybody to do anything’ when it comes to Lilly Rose, though she’s ‘absolutely’ fine to let the father into her life if he’s up for it.

Who's your daddy? Fans have speculated that her co-star Jean-Luc 'J.L.' Cerza-Lanaux might be the father, and Andy Cohen even asked her if he was the dad at the reunion

So far, she has resisted sharing the father’s identity, despite the rampant speculation that it’s J.L.’s baby.

‘He thinks it’s not his child, he doesn’t want to have anything to do with it,’ she says of the unnamed man.

Now Dani says she’s trying to keep things as cordial as possible between herself and her daughter’s father.

Above the fray: 'I'm not going to badmouth anybody because my daughter is going to see everything that I'm saying, everything that I'm doing and I don't want her to see things going back and forth on social media or things being said in a moment of anger,' Dani said

‘As I said, the door’s always open, but you need to do more than just talk. You need to actually have some action, do some action,’ she continued.

‘The father was part of it, I didn’t make her alone. So, if he wants to be part of her life obviously [he can]. But he needs to do more than talk.’

Although J.L. hasn’t confirmed that he’s the baby’s father, he shared in a recent Instagram post that he wants to ‘clear the air.’

‘While others are off chasing their 15 minutes of fame, I am working on a yacht in Central America and heartbroken to have to hear about the baby’s birth on social media and read headlines like “Dani Soares Says Her Baby’s Father Doesn’t Want Anything to Do With It,”‘ he wrote.

‘All I can say is if she’s mine, I want to be involved 100%.’

He added that he grew up with parents who weren’t together and ‘wouldn’t wish that on any child.’

Have to wait: In a follow-up from late last week he explained that he couldn't visit Dani and Lilly Rose to take the paternity test yet because Australia's borders are closed due to Covid-19

‘Not looking for a pity party. Just want everyone to know how strongly I feel about this, especially the haters who are so sure I am neglecting my responsibility. No one wants to know more than me if this is my baby girl!’ he added.

In a follow up post, J.L. said he was looking to take a paternity test together with Dani and that he hadn’t been able to visit her or her baby because of Australia’s Covid-19 travel restrictions.

‘No, Australia isn’t open yet or I would have already gone so those of you saying ‘just go’ must not know that,’ he explained. ‘We are truly on different continents so easier said than done.’
