Australian Survivor star Dani Beale reveals what is it is really like to be a female corrections officer at an all-male maximum security prison… and admits she has formed bonds with some inmates

She was recently evicted from the grueling series, Australian Survivor Brains vs Brawn.

But Dani Beale’s day job as a corrections officer at an all-male Sydney maximum-security prison is just as intense.

The freshly minted reality star, 34, spoke about her unique occupation during an interview on The Kyle and Jackie O’ Show on Wednesday.

Prison secrets: Australian Survivor Brains vs Brawn star Dani Beale has revealed how she commands respect in the all-male maximum security prison she worked at

‘To gain respect, you got to give respect,’ she explained, after host Jackie O’ Henderson asked how she gains respect in the all-male prison.

‘You don’t go in there trying to stand that you’re better than anyone else there. They’re all human beings, and you just treat them like they’re human beings.’

The radio hosts were a bit taken aback by the simplicity of Dani’s response, with Jackie saying, ‘They would love you then,’ while Kyle added it sounds ‘super easy.’

Kyle and Jackie O’ also asked whether she has formed relationships or bonds with inmates during her time at the prison.

‘Working day-in day-out you know you do form a type of relationship with inmates because there’s that respect thing,’ Dani responded.

‘Love and inmates, that’s a whole another ball game. I don’t even want to comment on that,’ she added with a laugh.

The former army officer later revealed in the interview that she is gay, but has ‘experimented.’

Dani was voted out at the Tribal Council during Tuesday’s episode of Australian Survivor: Brains V Brawn in a tense tie-breaker.

She had received two votes, as did fellow contestants Flick’ Palmateer and Cara Atchison.

But Dani was sent packing after the revote was counted by host Jonathan LaPaglia.
