AOC donned a Ghostbusters jumpsuit to attend the Bronx Halloween celebration
Progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez donned a Ghostbuster costume to join in some family friendly Halloween fun in New York City on Saturday, accompanied by her boyfriend and french bulldog Deco.
She wore her hair in a ponytail and donned a classic beige jumpsuit from the 1984 comedy film, complete with a black backpack to represent the proton pack the movie scientists used to capture specters.
For four years the Democrat firebrand has been hosting an annual community Halloween event in New York’s Bronx borough to give children in her district an opportunity to trick-or-treat and partake in spooky celebrations who otherwise may not.
She partnered with Feed Forward, which distributed food to low-income families attending the event.
Photos of the event show Ocasio-Cortez laughing and posing with costumed children. A tent with her campaign poster also had a spot at the event.
She also took plenty of photos with Deco, who she got in early 2020 and named after the Art Deco movement.
French bulldogs are known as a fun-loving but stubborn dogs, whose breeding has been opposed by animals rights groups concerned over the breathing problems and other health issues that selective breeding causes.
Deco attended the festivities clad in a vest that appeared to be stuffed with packets of different types of candy.
After the event Ocasio-Cortez posted pictures of herself surrounded by small children on Twitter, including one where a smiling boy looks to be running away with a handful of candy.

One boy appeared to run away with some sweets as Ocasio-Cortez and her team laughed
‘Today was our 4th Annual Community Halloween event and I finally got out of my last-minute cat ears rut! A little one did try to trick us out of some sweets though,’ she wrote.
Before the event Ocasio-Cortez posted on Instagram asking her supporters which of the original four 1984 Ghostbusters she should be.
An hour later she revealed the favorite to be Egon Spengler, the scientist played by late actor Harold Ramis.
But her actual jumpsuit ended up being styled at Bill Murray’s character Peter Venkman, judging by the ‘Venkman’ name tag stitched onto the front of her jumpsuit.
Ocasio-Cortez’s boyfriend Riley Roberts also dressed up for the event, though it didn’t work out as planned, according to the lawmaker’s social media.
She posted an image of Roberts to Instagram wearing a blue jumpsuit, writing: ‘So Riley was supposed to have an Among Us costume except when he opened the bag the helmet wasn’t there.’
She asked her Instagram followers which of the original four Ghostbusters she should be
But she then elected to dress as Bill Murray’s character, who got the second most votes, to match her boyfriend’s new costume
He donned a bright orange beanie, prompting Ocasio-Cortez to joke he resembled a sanitation worker.
The New York representative added that someone said he resembled Bill Murray’s character in the 2004 film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
‘Ok someone said Life Aquatic so what if I go as Venkman and then we are both Bill Murray!!!’ she wrote.
She was joined at the event by local lawmaker City Council member Kevin C. Riley. State Senator Alessandra Biaggi was supposed to be at the event but stayed away after testing positive for COVID-19.
At 2020’s event Ocasio-Cortez was much more dressed down, wearing a black jacket and normal fall clothing – with the exception of a pair of leopard print cat ears on her head.
