Thousands of amused parents have shared the simple ways they have annoyed their children and ‘ruined their lives’ – from embarrassing teenagers in front of their friends to not letting toddlers have their way.

After a post was shared to the Australian Facebook page Stay at Home Mum, parents flooded the comments section with hilarious responses.

‘So how did you manage to ruin your child’s life? Me? I wore the same coloured top as my teenage daughter in public. End of the world apparently!!’ the social media post read.

One mum said in order to get the attention of her kids and husband, she opted to turn the WIFI off, while another embarrassed her kids by dancing along to supermarket music.

‘I attended assembly because she was getting an award… how embarrassing apparently,’ one mum wrote.

‘I took my daughter home early after sports day, she said it wasn’t fair that she had to stay early, and she wanted to stay at school,’ another said.

A third said: ‘I told her she had to brush her own hair yesterday. She screamed and cried and told me she couldn’t do it on her own. Acted like I killed her. Then today she just brushed it without even flinching. I don’t get kids man.’

One mum said her toddler had a crying fit after she cut the crust of the sandwich for lunch.

Another mum related to the comment and said her four-year-old had a tantrum when she didn’t allow him to have lollies for breakfast.

‘I told my kids to stop running around the front yard and come inside or play out the back because it’s getting dark,’ another mum said.

The social media post attracted more than 1,500 comments and over 3,900 ‘likes’ from parents around Australia.
