American expat Sophia (pictured left) has revealed why she’s convinced KFC and McDonald’s in Australia ‘tastes better’ than the fast food chains in her home country
‘This is the first time I’m trying KFC in Australia and I swear the fast food in Australia is so much better than in America. The quality of food is just a lot better, like you can see it in the photos and the videos as well,’ she said.
‘The theory is that Australians are smaller than Americans because Australians charge for condiments and the portions are smaller.
Sophia added: ‘Everything just tastes more fresh here.’
She said her American friends also agreed with her about the quality of food in Australia after she documented her experience at McDonald’s on Instagram.
‘All my friends back in California were like “wait, why does it look so good?”‘ the founder of swimwear label Siempre Golden said.

‘I swear the first time I ate McDonald’s in Australia, I was like wow, this is so much better. Maccas in America is literally the worst,’ a US man wrote.
One woman added: ‘All fast food in Australia is so much better than in the US because we use fresh produce.’
Many diners pointed out the food quality standards in Australia is ‘better’ than America because most of the fresh ingredients are sourced from Down Under.
‘Australian KFC sources its chicken from an actual chicken producer in Australia,’ one wrote, while another added: ‘Our food safety standards are high and strict.’
Many complained they felt sick after eating a fast food meal in America.
Meanwhile, one person suggested: ‘If you think KFC in Australia is good, wait till you try KFC in Japan, that will blow your mind. Best KFC I have ever had.’
Kaymie Wuerfel (pictured) who relocated from Florida to Sydney in early 2020 revealed why she believes Australian McDonald’s is better than the US
And she isn’t the only one to make a video raving about the fast food chains in Australia. Last week, American expat Kaymie Wuerfel revealed why she believes Australian McDonald’s is better than the US.
The young woman, who relocated from Florida to Sydney in early 2020, said the quality of the food Down Under was far superior.
‘I never ate it much in America because when you eat McDonald’s in America you genuinely feel like you are going to die,’ she said.
‘And I know here is probably not much better but it is so, so good.
‘I’m eating those Chicken McPieces and downing my frozen Coke, the last thing on my mind is my health – which probably is a bad thing.’
Viewers agreed, with plenty suggesting this could be down to Australia’s premium ingredients such as grass-fed beef, or the oil chips and chicken nuggets are fried in.
