- Bower renowned for unsparing portrayals of towering figures like Boris Johnson
- He’ll embark on 12 months of meticulous research speaking to friends and foes
- One source claimed: ‘This is the book Meghan will be dreading’
- It has been made clear to Bower that Meghan has no intention of speaking to him
Meghan Markle‘s life is to be laid bare by acid-penned biographer Tom Bower who has agreed a six figure sum to tell the Duchess’s story, sources have revealed.
He will embark on 12 months of meticulous research, speaking to friends, foes and associates of Harry and Meghan so that he can tell the Duchess’s story.
A source told The Sun: ‘This is the book Meghan will be dreading.
‘Terrifyingly thorough’: Tom Bower will pen an unauthorised biography of Meghan Markle, sources have revealed
Harry and Meghan speaking to Oprah Winfrey earlier this month
‘Tom doesn’t pull his punches, and is terrifyingly thorough in his research. No stone will be left unturned.
‘Tom has previously worked with some of his subjects, and even spent time trailing them, but it has been made perfectly clear to him that this will not be an option with Meghan.
‘She wants no part of it. Given the events of recent weeks and months, this book will be dynamite – he reckons this is just the tip of the iceberg, and more will emerge over the next 12 months.’
US publisher Simon & Schuster are said to have agreed to buy the rights to Bower’s planned book following a bidding war.
It is expected that Bower will interview members of Meghan’s estranged family, including father Thomas.
He will also speak with former Palace staff, The Sun reported, to glean information about how Meghan treated employees.
In 2018, Bower wrote ‘The Rebel Prince,’ about Prince Charles which explored how the heir to the throne sought to overcome Princess Diana’s death.
A spokesman for Simon & Schuster declined to comment.
Bower’s work comes after the publication of Finding Freedom, a biography of Meghan which raised eyebrows for its gushing praise and intimate knowledge of the Duke, 35, and Duchess, 39 – but the couple claimed they were not interviewed and did not contribute to the book.
The biography offered a window into Meghan and Harry’s lives during their time as senior royals, and is full of details on their shock exit from the royal family.
It addressed the rift between brothers Harry and William, as well as the relationship between their wives.
Co-author Omid Scobie said that while they did not interview the couple, ‘many’ friends gave them insights – providing ‘a lens to the couple through their friends and their circle of aides.’
