2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards winners list

Scarlett Johansson got a faceful of slime at the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday evening after her husband Colin Jost mistook the ceremony for the Kids’ Choice Awards.

Scarlett was accepting the Generation Award for an impressive body of work going back to when she was just a teenager, until her SNL star husband hilarious ruined the moment.

‘Thank you so much for this award,’ the actress began. ‘Watching that reel, it reminds me of all the incredibly inspiring collaborators that I’ve been fortunate enough to work with for over three decades.’

Shocker: Scarlett Johansson got a faceful of slime at the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday evening after her husband Colin Jost mistook the ceremony for the Kids’ Choice Awards

But as she thanked her fans for supporting her career, the camera angle changed to show Colin in the background as he brought up a bowl of thick green slime and poured it over her head.

She stopped in shock before shouting, ‘What the f***?!’

‘MTV! You get slimed!’ he shouted back.

‘That’s f***ing Nickeloden!’ an angry Scarlett replied as he said he was ‘very sorry.’

Host Leslie Jones, 53, made an uproarious start to the ceremony with a WandaVision-themed parody.

The hilarious segment showed her traveling through television history and shaking things up, though she was coaxed out of the TV world after learning that the MTV Movie & TV Awards were being hosted by a Black woman — herself.

She played an Urkel-like character in the Family Matters parody Leslie Matters.

Another parody poked fun at The Jeffersons, with her taking the lead.

This year’s ceremony is a two-night takeover, with MTV Movie & TV Awards: UNSCRIPTED airing the next day to cover the world of reality television.

Anthony Mackie was the first big winner at the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday evening for his lead performance on the Disney+ series The Falcon And The Winter Soldier.

The 42-year-old actor was honored in the Best Hero category after being introduced by This Is Us stars Mandy Moore and Justin Hartley

‘This is amazing!’ Anthony said before thanking his cast and crew.

‘Everything that has happened in this past year-and-a-half has been literally a very hard experience,’ he continued. ‘But we got through and we’re stronger for it.’

It was a big night for Marvel and Disney+, as Elizabeth Olsen went on to win Best Performance in a Show for WandaVision.

Anthony was seen hugging his fellow Avenger before the show started.

Following Elizabeth’s win was Regé-Jean Page winning for Breakthrough Performance for his hit Netflix romance Bridgeton.

He said he was honored but worried he might crush his golden popcorn by accident.

Regé-Jean was featured again in a hilarious Bridgeton parody in which the show was redone in the style of Zach Snyder’s director’s cut of Justice League, with her ogling Page as he stripped down.

Leslie Jones ended up being one of the night’s winners when she took home the golden popcorn for Best Comedic Performance for Coming 2 America.

She was flanked by dancers in grass skirts as she accepted her award.

Best Kiss went out to Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline for their Netflix series Outer Banks.

Fittingly, they gave a repeat performance for the audience.

Winning the award for best fight were Elizabeth Olsen and Kathryn Hahn, who starred in Disney+’s WandaVision as Wanda and Agatha.

Elizabeth teased that they might do their own kiss on stage, which Kathryn sounded into, but she quickly added that she was just kidding.

They also mimed a fight without the help of professionals, which looked incredibly fake and low-impact.

Anthony Mackie returned to the stage afterward when he and his costar Sebastian Stan won Best Duo for The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, though his partner in crime wasn’t able to join him.

He concluded his speech by joking that he was unemployed now.
