Jacksonville Jaguars Defeat Miami Dolphins 23 – 20 in London

Trevor Lawrence was the number one overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft after being acknowledged as one of the best quarterbacks of his generation, but the Jacksonville Jaguars entered this game against the Miami Dolphins with a 0 and 5 record so far during the 2021 – 2022 NFL. The Jacksonville Jaguars had to come from behind twice in order to even the score at 20 to 20 on a 54 – yard field goal with just 3:45 remaining on the game clock.

A crowd of 60,784 spectators at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium located in London, England seemed primed to be treated to some overtime NFL football as the Jacksonville Jaguars were getting set on a fourth and eight play with only 5 seconds left in the contest. The Jacksonville Jags ran their play, made first down, called a timeout with only one second left, and Matthew Wright kicked another field goal, time from 53 – yards out, in order to secure a much – needed win.

With the Jacksonville Jaguars’ last victory having come during their 2020 – 2021 NFL season opener, this win in London snapped their current 20 – game losing streak which was the second – longest in the National Football League during the Super Bowl era. This victory also marked the first NFL win for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach, Urban Meyer.

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, has always been considered to become an NFL superstar since he was 14 – years – old, yet it was a guy who was working as a software engineer several weeks ago that fortified this victory in which both Lawrence and Meyer claimed they will never forget.

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ place kicker, Matthew Wright, had just 4 previous field goal attempts in the NFL before the 25 – year – old was signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad on September 27th, 2021. Even though Wright created the late – game heroics for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Lawrence completed 25 of his 41 pass attempts good for 319 passing yards which is the most that the 22 – year – old quarterback has been able to manage during Trevor’s short and uneventful NFL career.

The Miami Dolphins’ quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, who just returned to game action after missing the past 3 weeks on the sidelines with cracked ribs, had 324 passing yards including 2 touchdown throws to Jaylen Waddle, but that solid effort was not enough to stop the Miami Dolphins from slipping to an overall record of 1 and 5 as the Miami Dolphins have failed to win a football game since their 2021 – 2022 NFL season opener.

We were desperate for a win,” the Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach, Urban Meyer, explained. “There were a lot of things to fix. But you saw a young quarterback make a big – time play at the biggest time of the game, and then a young kicker that we just signed a couple weeks ago pop two 50 – plus yarders, so it was a great win.”

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ starting quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, stated, “I just said ‘way to be ready, man’. You couldn’t even make it up.”
